Button quails typically live between 3 to 6 years in captivity, with exceptional individuals reaching up to 13 years with optimal care. In the wild, their lifespan is much shorter—often just 1 to 2 years—due to predation and harsh environmental stressors
Factors Affecting LifespanGender: Males often live longer than females. Egg-laying is a major physical stressor that can shorten a female’s life, making them more susceptible to reproductive issues like becoming egg-bound.Diet & Nutrition: A high-quality game bird or quail starter mash, supplemented with greens, small seeds, and a calcium source (like a cuttlebone), is essential for a longer life.Environment: A clean, stress-free aviary or cage with soft bedding helps prevent injuries and disease.Genetics: Like many domesticated birds, their overall hardiness relies heavily on responsible breeding practices.
